Sponsored by Toyota Manufacturing UK
Toyota Manufacturing UK (TMUK) is delighted to be associated with the Business Awards Derbyshire 2010, which celebrate the strength and diversity of the local business community. As a responsible manufacturer, Toyota is sponsoring the Environment Award to recognise local businesses that share our commitment to the environment.
Toyota's goal is to minimise the environmental impact of our operations and to ensure that our future growth is in harmony with nature and society. Our car and engine manufacturing plants located at Burnaston, Derbyshire, and Deeside, North Wales, are model plants for ‘sustainable activities' for Toyota in Europe. As model sustainable plants TMUK is a ‘beacon of environmental excellence', piloting new cleaner manufacturing processes and technology which are shared with Toyota's plants across Europe.
The three pillars of TMUK's ‘sustainable plant' approach are:
- Demonstrate leading environmental performance in the automotive industry through the use of cleaner production technology and our employees' commitment to continuous improvement.
- Increasing the use of renewable energy sources and minimising the use of natural resources in our manufacturing processes.
- Working in partnership with our local communities to preserve and protect the local environment and eco-systems.
