Rolls-Royce is once again delighted to sponsor the Business Awards Derbyshire. This "Innovation Through Technology" Award will be given to a company demonstrating that the development and application of technology innovation was the key factor behind its business success.

Innovation Through Technology - Criteria

"This award recognises how a company has developed its business through the introduction of technological advances"

Over recent years much of UK industry has been refocusing its activities towards the provision of high valued-added, knowledge intensive goods and services.

This requires suppliers to develop a far better understanding of what really creates value for their customers. This knowledge enables the supplier to incorporate the most suitable technological advances into the development of its own products or services therefore creating a competitive advantage for the business.

The ability of a company to deliver technological innovation which satisfies customer and market demands is therefore critical to its own success and future growth.

The applicant can choose to submit activities that display technological innovation from within the breadth of the product or service lifecycle, from concept and design, to introduction and through-life support.

The judges will be looking at the market environment that your company operates in, which new technology innovation you have implemented, the requirement that it addressed, and the impact it has had on your business.

The judges will be looking for:

  • A description of your business
    • Products and services
    • Customers and markets
    • Financial performance over recent years
    • Key events or milestones
    • Business objectives over the next three years
  • A summary of the specific technology innovation that you have selected for this award and the rationale for implementing it.
    • How the issue was identified
    • Which business requirement it addressed
    • How the right technology was selected
    • How the technology innovation has impacted on your business - customers, suppliers, workforce, investors and other stakeholders
    • Your plans for building on the success of this technology innovation in the future
  • A summary of why your company deserves to win the "Innovation Through Technology" Award 2010.
